Whiskey is a
subject near and dear to my heart (or maybe more accurately my liver) and that
is the subject of today entry.
Now to start off you should know I’m a “rocks” guy, I feel that adding any sort of sugary concoction to a well-made whiskey should be stoneable offence. For those of out there who can’t stomach the thought of straight whiskey your reading the wrong blog.
Over the years I have
gone through I few fazes with whiskey

Faze 1: The Dark years
Faze 2: Crown
and Pendleton
Not such a bad time both of these are very nice and in my neck of the woods readily
available.
During Christmas one year we even did
a taste test between Crown and Pendleton. There was no clear winner
(at least not that I remember). A great time was had by all and it was indeed a
merry Christmas.
Faze 3:
Pendleton
After a few years of a “whiskey is whiskey” attitude I finally choose a side in great Pendleton or crown debate. I choose Pendleton for pure geographical loyalty, Pendleton, Oregon, the town for which Pendleton whiskey is named after is about 45 minutes south of my little slice of heaven.
Faze 3 ½: The Pendleton hangover
I’m not sure if it’s the pure smooth, almost Carmel taste that Pendleton has
going for it that makes it so easy to drink, or my complete lack
of self-control but more than a few morning I have woke up with a snare drum in
my head.

I few years ago when I worked in the wine industry I gave a friend
of mine a couple of used wine barrels that he used for yard decorations.
Knowing my nthusiasm for whisky the brought me a bottle of “40 Creek
Barrel select” and I was hooked.
“This unique barrel selection process results in a whiskey
where aromas of honey, vanilla and
apricot fuse with toasty oak, black walnut and spice. The
flavor is rich and bold on the palate and is completed in a
smooth, long finish.”
Although not really readily available in my neck of the woods,
a few of my local haunts carry it and that’s fine for now. In conclusion there
is a fine line( when it comes to drinking whiskey) between good and bad, let us
strive to stay on the good side.
